Benjye has a unique style that has made her a favorite among art
collectors throughout the United States. Vibrant colors, rhythmic
movement and overlapping shapes in all of her works, make her pieces
dynamic works of art. She studied in New York and Chicago and is currently
represented in the Chicago area by amata, but also The AnamArt Gallery in Naperville,
Illinois.
The figurative drawings of Benjye have evolved over a period of many years of
studying classical figure drawing. After using only pencil, ink and charcoal, she
discovered color through the use of pastels. The human figure she had drawn
thousands of times in the studio suddenly evolved into abstract drawings of figures
layered upon each other.
Recently, inspired by travels through Europe and Asia, Benjye has turned to
the canvas to create a vision of color, depth and shape and line in form of an
"Arboretum". After visiting many museums, walking through landscapes and viewing
Thomas Struth's massive photographs of forest called "Paradise", Benjye has now
created a series of paintings titled "Inside" with the intention to place the
viewer "inside" the landscape rather than viewing it from the outside looking
in. Continuing to grow and expand, the same elements of shape, movement, line
and color are now incorporated in both her figurative pastels as well as her
landscape paintings.
